The Beauty We Are
photographed by: Zoey Alden
“The Beauty We Are is a visual dialogue—an exploration of the connection between photographer and subject.
This portrait series honors the individuality and presence of the women I photographed foe this series—each one unique in her story, spirit, and strength.
My goal with this work was to return to the essence of why I entered the world of portrait and fashion photography: connection.
In larger editorial settings, that connection can be diluted or lost.
With this project, I wanted to strip everything back and focus on the emotional exchange that happens when a subject allows herself to be seen—and on how the camera becomes a bridge between us.
Each image is more than a portrait; it is a shared moment of trust and vulnerability, where identity and emotion meet.
